Coke Studio 10 : Five songs from this season we can’t get out of our heads

Blogs   October 2, 2017
From first to the last episode, this season created master pieces for sure.

Like previous seasons, Coke Studio 10 hooked us since its first episode. This season was a bag of mixed flavors. Some episodes were Amazing while some were ordinary but once again we got successful in taking Pakistan’s music industry to new heights.

From First to the last episode, this season created master pieces for sure. Here are my top 5 from the 10th Edition of Coke Studio:

1.Tinak Dhin Na:

Artist: Ali Sethi, Ali Hamza and Waqar Ehsin.  Music Director: Ali Hamza

This one was a hit! Ali Hamza’s original ‘ Tinak Dhin’ was a perfect treat for music lovers, with Ali Sethi’s power packed voice along with debutant Ehsan’s magic, this song became the highlight for the 10th season. We have seen Sethi singing a lot of classical numbers but this time the trio won our hearts with this light yet entertaining track.

2. Dekh tera Kiya/Latthe Di Chadar:

Artist: Quratulain Balouch and Farhan Saeed. Music Director: Shani Arshad

Farhan Saeed and Qurat-ul-ain Baloch couldn’t have done it better. The rendition of both the songs took us to a world of folk music. The most impressive part of this song was combining wedding number with the hit 80s track by Alamgir, which made us fall for this. Thumbs up Shuja Haider for this beautiful rendition.

3. Allah Ho Akbar:

Artist: Ahmed Jehanzeb and Shafqat Amanat. Music Director: Shuja Haider

Coke Studio kicked off with Allah Ho Akbar taking the lead, it is a perfect mixture of soul-stirring vocals and beautiful lyrics. Featuring Ahmed Jahanzeb and Shafqat Amanat Ali in this devotional piece, Allah Ho Akbar is one of our favorite Sufi number. It’s powerful and that’s exactly what Sufism is all about.

4. Baazi:

Artist: Sahir Ali Bagga & Aima Baig. Music Director: Sahir Ali Bagga

No one would have thought that Aima Baig will come as the most powerful voice of the season. Aima’s alternative style, paired with Sahir Ali Bagga’s charm, complemented each other extremely well. It was Bagga’s unique music composition that added a delightful taste to this Siraiki classic and made it a big hit.

5. Uss Raah Par:

Artist: Ali Hamza & Ali Zafar feat. Strings. Music Director:  Jaffer Zaidi

We all fall for this song! This one is our favorite from the entire season. How can a tribute to Junaid Jamshed (the legend we lost last year) go wrong when the strings joined the track with the two amazing Ali Zafar and Ali Hamza? Every minute of this song, took back to those nostalgic moments of our childhood which we never want to forget. It was nothing less than magical!

Although the season just ended, let’s admit, we cannot wait for the next season!
