In a remarkable achievement for Pakistan, a courageous couple, Ahmed and Anum Uzair, etched their names in history as they reached the pinnacle of Mount Manaslu, the eighth-highest mountain globally, on Sunday. Their ascent marked a significant milestone as they became the first Pakistani couple to conquer this challenging peak. The expedition was meticulously organized by the Nepal-based mountaineering company Seven Summit Treks, which proudly confirmed this extraordinary accomplishment on social media. Accompanied by three skilled sherpas, Pasang Sherpa, Pasang Dukpa Sherpa, and Pastenji Sherpa, Ahmed and Anum Uzair from Lahore summited the 8,163-meter giant on the morning of September 24. The Alpine Club Pakistan Secretary, Karrar Haidri, expressed immense pride in their achievement, acknowledging that the couple had indeed made history and brought honor to Pakistan through their remarkable feat.

Mount Manaslu, nestled in the west-central part of Nepal, is one of the coveted eight-thousander mountains, first conquered in 1956. This incredible journey to its summit spans approximately 65 days and covers a staggering distance of about 12.2 kilometers from the base camp. It’s a testament to the indomitable spirit of mountaineers like Ahmed and Anum Uzair, who dared to conquer the heights, setting an inspiring example for adventurers worldwide. This achievement adds to the rich mountaineering legacy of Pakistan and underscores the country’s growing presence in the world of high-altitude climbing, all while Nepal, home to Mount Everest, continues to be a hub for such awe-inspiring expeditions.
