Ehd-e-Wafa: Four Friends United by Love, Divided by Adversities
Of college days and uniforms, everlasting bond and undying patriotism, heroes and fearlessness; Hum TV’s Ehd-e-Wafa has created a massive uproar.
This one is bound to send ripples in Pakistan’s drama industry for years to come. While Hum TV kept the making of this serial all hush-hushed, the ultimate reveal of teasers has given us much to speculate over.
From an ensemble cast to its tribute to Pakistan’s military, this ISPR co-production appears like none other. Directed by the veteran Saife Hasan and penned by Mustafa Afridi, Ehd-e-Wafa stars big wigs of industry like Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Vaneezah Ahmed, Osman Khalid Butt, Zara Noor Abbas, and, Wahaj Ali.
For those who have seen Superstar will find the bubbly beauty Alizey Shah playing a major character in the drama. Hajra Yamin of Pinky Memsaab will also be seen in a pivotal role.
Not a Sequel to Alpha Bravo Charlie
There was a massive buzz that Ehd-e-Wafa is a sequel to the timeless Pakistani drama, Alpha Bravo Charlie. However, the makers later quashed all such rumors.
Spotlight had a candid conversation with Ehd-e-Wafa’s director, Saife Hasan and here’s what the mastermind had to say:
We already know that Ehd-e-Wafa is not a sequel to Alpha Bravo Charlie. Nevertheless, it reminds the Pakistani audience of the golden Pakistani drama. Do you think it will be as big as ABC in its own unique way?
We have worked really hard as a team to make something distinctive. The script itself took quite some time and then shooting has been going on for a while in different locations.
We can only pray that all this hard work pays off and we live up to the audience’s expectations.
How does it feel to get such a tremendous response from Ehd-e-Wafa teasers and were you expecting it?
It’s a wonderful feeling but I was certainly not expecting to get such an overwhelming response from the audience. This has certainly increased pressure on me as a director to live up to the hype created by the promos.
We have all worked hard as a team so I’m hoping the drama will meet everyone’s expectations.
How would you rate your experience working with a distinctive cast that sports such a diverse skill set?
It certainly eases my job as a director, working with such a stellar cast. They are all great performers who try to excel in every shot no matter where we’re working.
Tell us one thing that media circuit still doesn’t know about Ehd-e-Wafa and you are really eager to reveal it
At this stage, I’m not ready to disclose anything. I would advise you all to watch the play when all will be revealed in due time.
Make Some Noise For Our Commando Boys!
Surely, the very first look of Ehd-e-Wafa was a pleasant surprise for drama-buffs, especially the casting coup of Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar, Osman Khalid Butt, and Wahaj Ali.
And their blaring chemistry as a mischievous squad of four hostelites was palpable in the promos. Regardless of working together for the first time in a project so colossal, the high-spirited quartet has effortlessly stolen the spotlight in the teasers.
Rough, tough and with a passion to conquer the world, the boys can be witnessed with their shenanigans in Pakistan’s Military Academy.
Sweet Romance & Summertime Flings
Moreover, Ehd-e-Wafa has sprawling, feel-good love stories weaved along with its cohesive plot.
While Ahad Raza Mir has been paired across the rising starlet Alizeh, Zara Noor Abbas and Osman Khalid’s Butt will be seen enjoying a summertime fling.
However, these romantic trysts in the drama are totally diverse in nature; each hilarious and unique in its own endearing way.
We bet the audience will love the fresh pairings, especially that of Ahad and Alizeh who appear cute and candid with their sweet-and-sour romantic equation.
Four Heroes But Only One Bags the Sword of Honor
The teasers reveal that only one of the four comrades will be completing their training at the academy to ultimately join the Pakistan army.
We are musing that a squabble between the cadets tears them apart and life challenges compel them to follow their own careers.
After completing his training, Ahad Raza Mir eventually joins the army and bags the Sword of Honor- a significant award won by the officers of the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
But what will be the fate of the rest of the friends? What is their Ehd-e-Wafa as the name of the drama depicts? It is too soon to tell.
However, one thing is for sure. The team’s hard work is evident from its promos.
The release date of Ehd-e-Wafa is finally out and the drama is hitting our screens every Sunday, starting from September 22nd, 8 P.M
