Kashmir Cooking Oil & Banaspati staying true to their brand’s philosophy
Hum Awards is the biggest award show of the Pakistani Drama Industry that celebrates and honors our local talent across various categories. Last year the magical night of awards lit up Toronto and this year Kashmir is back again to captivate you with Kashmir 7th Hum Awards in Houston.
Pakistan has more than 70 Banaspati/cooking oil brands, yet the unregulated and un-packaged cooking oil category accounts for about 80% of total sales.
Pakistan has more than 150 Banaspati/cooking oil manufacturing units and a total consumption of about four million tons per year, 86% of which is catered by imported oils/oil seeds. With a growing population and rising income levels, this consumption is expected to rise by three to five percent a year, making it an increasingly attractive market for local and foreign players.

Not only this, in line with their brand philosophy, a new communication campaign was also launched that promoted a change in the company’s corporate branding as well as a packaging revamp. The TVC represented a new direction towards inspirational advertising in contrast to popular practice of promoting a healthy lifestyle with stylized food shots. The brand wanted to implement their belief of being young and at the pulse of current trends in whatever they do.
Kashmir is a 56-year-old brand with well-established product attributes, the need was to move away from functionality and go for a bigger purpose. For them, ‘young’ is a state of mind and not just the age of a person. Through this communication launch they wanted to target anyone and everyone who is young at heart and has an experimental chef in them.
As a brand of generations, Kashmir understands that equity is developed when all that you do communicate resonates with people at a deeper level and this is only possible when the brand has something meaningful to say that can capture a share of people’s hearts. The stories other brands tell are not about real homes. They lack the warmth and lived-in feel of a home. Kashmir did not want to follow the same footsteps… they never have!
