If you want to shine, you'll need the darkness, agreed?

It is raining posters and trailers in Pakistan’s film industry where everyone seems to be targeting the next Eid – Eid ul Adha – for the release of their films.

M & D Films and Hum Films presented the first look of Superstar which will be releasing in a couple of months’ time, and we can’t be more excited. The first look of the film features two of the most beautiful faces in Pakistan – Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf – who dazzle together in the motion poster, looking grand and superstar-ish to say the least.

The poster’s tagline ‘If you want to shine, you’ll need the darkness’ gives you a hint about the storyline; it seems like the film will revolve around the struggle of one of the two main leads who are played by Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf.

Now we all know that Mahira Khan has a huge following all over the world and through this poster, she will get more fans because she looks stunning in what seems to be a glimpse of a soulful song rendered by Atif Aslam in the movie.

The screenplay of the film has been penned by the multi talented Azaan Sami Khan who is also composing the film’s score and we can’t be happier, considering his songs in Parwaaz Hai Junoon were loved by all.

The film also marks the feature film debut of the acclaimed TV director Ehteshamuddin who in the past has made short films including ‘Shah Rukh Khan Ki Maut’, which was released in 2005 but still remains etched into the minds of those who saw it at KARA Films Festival.

Ehtesham is also the man behind classic TV dramas including Udaari, Sadqay Tumhare, Aseerzadi, and Aangan. In fact, this will be his second project with Mahira Khan who played the lead role in Sadqay Tumhare five years back.

The veteran actor-turned-director terms the film as a bridge between Hope and Faith, and if that’s not deep, I don’t know what is. Bilal Ashraf, who returns to Hum Films after the big-budgeted Yalghaar feels lucky to have worked with Mahira Khan under an ace director. While talking to Spotlight, he said:

“It was an absolute pleasure learning from the maestro Ehteshamuddin and working with the amazing Mahira Khan.”

I am sure they were also thrilled working with Bilal Ashraf as well. The dialogues are written by Ali and Mustafa Afridi and with the latter’s name, you know you will get dialogues that are all out filmi. Who can forget his brilliant writing in Aseerzadi, Sang e Mar Mar and Aangan where he has done a fabulous job as a writer.

In fact, he plays the father of Ahad Raza Mir in the drama and looks no less handsome than the son, making one wonder whether he would make an appearance in the film or not.

This is the third film by producer Momina Duraid following the tremendous success of Bin Roye and Parwaaz Hai Junoon; her third film will be an Eid flick, all set for an Eid ul Adha release, alongside Asim Raza’s Paray Hut Love, Azfar Jafri’s Heer Maan Ja, and maybe Khalil ur Rehman Qamar’s Kaaf Kangana.

What makes it stand out is its stellar cast that features the one and only Nadeem Baig, Jawed Sheikh, Marina Khan, Asma Abbas, Saife Hassan, Ali Kazmi while also have special appearances from Hum TV’s favorite Hania Amir, Syra Shehroz, Osman Khalid Butt and Mani.

The stunning Kubra Khan will also have a special dance number in the movie and we have started counting days, already!
